Van Baerle Trio

Piano trio

Hannes Minnaar – piano
Maria Milstein – violin
Gideon den Herder – cello

The Van Baerle Trio was founded in 2004, and its name is derived from the street where their musical roots lie: the Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam, located at the van Baerlestraat. Here the three musicians met while still studying at the at the Conservatory of Amsterdam.
After winning a competition in the Concertgebouw they are nominated for the ECHO Rising Stars, a tour that takes the trio to important halls throughout Europe, Vienna, London, Paris, Barcelona and Cologne. In following years, they further establish their international reputation when winning the ARD competition Munich and the International Chamber Music Competition in Lyon.
In 2022, the internationally acclaimed young composer Gabriel Prokofiev wrote a new piano trio for the Van Baerle Trio and in March 2024 the musicians premiered Rob Zuidam’s new piano trio at the Friday Evening Concert series of AvroTros in TivoliVredenburg Utrecht.
