The Quatuor Danel was founded in 1991 and has operated in its current formation since 2014. Coming seasons will again take the quartet all over the world with tours in the U.S.A., Japan, Taiwan and South Korea, but of course also to major stages in Europe such as Gewandhaus Leipzig, Wigmore Hall London, Muziekgebouw Amsterdam and exciting festivals like Kuhmo and Lausitz. The Danel has just released a new recording of the complete Shostakovich String Quartet cycle on the Accentus label. It has been overloaded with prizes and hauled as the new benchmark recording of this music which is so close to the Quatuor Danel’s hearts.
For next season Quatuor are very much focussing on the commemoration of Dmitri Shostakovich’ death 50 years ago. But next to that they are preparing some very exciting collaborations, amongst others with pianist François-Frédéric Guy and with colleague string quartet Quatuor Arod. Below please find all Danel projects available for 2025-2026.
Quatuor Danel can present the full string quartet cycle – 15 quartets! – in five concerts, either in one weekend, spread through the year or in a weeks time. Whatever suits your programme best. They also have a smaller, thematic version of the Shostakovich quartets bundled into three concerts.
