Alexander Melnikov must be the most versatile pianist of this moment, his repertoire ranging from C.Ph.E. Bach on historical instruments to Ligeti Piano Concerto and everything in between. He will do a romantic concerto with a top ranking symphony orchestra, an intimate duo recital with Isabelle Faust, a song recital with Claron McFadden or a lead and play with a famous chamber orchestra. His playing is imbued with an acute, compelling and almost sarcastic humour. An artist whose intelligence and empathy will allow generous detours despite his obsession for precision. Always good for surprises!
In 2025 the world will be commemorating that Dmitri Shostakovich died 50 years ago. For this Alexander Melnikov will be presenting all Preludes and Fugues for piano solo in a complete concert evening. An amazing journey which will take you to the heart of Shostakovich’ life and work. The cycle is available all through season 2025-2026.
Melnikov is also presenting an exciting programme with his long time musical partner Isabelle Faust. And those who are looking for an edgy solo programme, will be happy to hear that Melnikov is offering an evening with Schnittke, Gubaidulina and Denisov, but also a slightly more ‘classical’ recital with Schubert, Liszt and Scriabin.
