On 29 October 2024 pianists Alexander Melnikov, Olga Pashchenko, Slava Poprugin and Viacheslav Shelepov will be honouring their teacher and musical hero Alexei Lubimov with a 80th birthday concert at Muziekgebouw aan het IJ in Amsterdam.
“Alexei Lubimov is a legend,” says Alexander Melnikov, ‘His entire life is nothing but an uncompromising tribute to music, illuminated by the unquenchable fire that continues to burn within this man.’ Lubimov was one of the last students of the legendary pedagogue Heinrich Neuhaus. He will be eighty. This milestone will be celebrated on the stage of Muziekgebouw aan het IJ in Amsterdam with his friends Slava Poprugin, Alexander Melnikov, Viacheslav Shelepov and Olga Pashchenko.
