Webcast Yevgeny Sudbin @ Festival Classique

On Saturday 14 June pianist Yevgeny Sudbin gave his first recital in the Netherlands during the Festival Classique in Den Haag. He performed Haydn Sonata in B minor HobXVI:32, Chopin Mazurka's, Scriabin Mazurka's and Ravel's Gaspard de la Nuit.  It was a widely anticipated debut of a much talked about young artist.

Yevgeny Sudbin is only 26 years old and his playing has already been compared to that of legendary pianists as Horowitz and Michelangeli. His recent release of Scriabin has been chosen as one of the best recordings of 2007 by Archive.International Record review said about his Rachmaninov recording: ' This confirms him as one of the most important pianistic talents of our time', while Hariet Smith on BBC 3 CD Review said: 'What bowls me over most is his sheer musicality. It shines out of every bar.' Gramophone praises Sudbin's debut concerto recording - Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto nr. 1- for its 'spine-tingling brilliance, poetry and vivacity'. And the Daily Telegraph wrote at the end of a raving review on his recital at the Verbier Festival in 2006: 'Any chance to hear him should be snapped up immediately'.
