DANEL & WEINBERG
After very successful presentations of the Weinberg cycle - 17 string quartets in 5 days time!! - at Manchester University and in the Philharmonie in Paris, next stop is Washington. The Philips Collection is featuring the whole cycle over three weekends end of April, beginning of May 2019. After that the Quatuor Danel heads for the ElbPhilharmonie in Hamburg, followed by Amsterdam Muziekgebouw aan het IJ where Weinberg's actual birthday will be celebrated. Mieczysław Weinberg was born on 8 December 1919.
And then the actual Weinberg year might be over, but for the Quatuor Danel it's the start of a long term relationship with Wigmore Hall in London where they will be presenting all Shostakovich and all Weinberg string quartets juxtaposed in a series of 11 concerts over two seasons.
